Owning a Teacup pig

Hello people of West Virginia welcome to pamperedpiglets.com. You have probably ended up on this site and this page because you have some level of interest in learning more about teacup pigs and have different questions surrounding them. A lot of the inquiries or questions we get through our website involve questions about how teacup pigs will assimilate into the lifestyle that you already live. Questions of cleanliness are ones that often get brought up most frequently. What do we mean by cleanliness? Well sometimes people have natural questions in regards to keeping a farm animal as a regular household pet. Again these questions are natural because they are similar to the ones we had years ago when we were new to the whole idea of teacup pigs. This is why we write these pieces to educate people on the basics of teacup pig ownership. The issue of cleanliness is what the rest of this section will focus on.

The first question that typically comes up is the issue of where and how teacup pigs will go to the bathroom. People often have this mindset that they will be dealing with a farm animal that will just go to the bathroom whenever they please and this notion could not be further from the truth. The first thing you will notice about a teacup pig is the high level of intelligence that most of them have. They have an innate ability to learn and pick up on things very quickly. You will have to potty train a teacup pig just like you would for any animal. There will be a process involved in training the teacup pig to go to the bathroom in the area you would like them to go in. Once you introduce them to this area it will only take them a couple of weeks at most to understand exactly what is expected from them. From then on, the bathroom issue should not be an issue for you at all.

Remember as well that teacup pigs are small in nature so it stands to reason that their droppings are small as well. A litter box that you would get for a cat should be good for them to go to the bathroom in. Be sure you are not letting any kind of urine sit in the litter box for a long time because just like with a cat it will start to smell up the house. This has nothing to do with the teacup pig, more to do with a complacent owner.

In West Virginia people tend to be animal lovers and usually have a seamless transition into becoming teacup pig owners. We find that people from rural areas are often pleasantly surprised at the difference between teacup pigs and their normal sized counterparts. Do you have additional questions outside of ones revolving around cleanliness? If so, please contact us through our website and we will be happy to clear any issues up for you with the years of advice we bring to the table.
